FORMER uMDM SPEAKER RE-ELECTED

A special Full Council was convened at uMgungundlovu District Municipality today (07 October 2016). This follows after Councillor Yusuf Bhamjee (former Speaker) was redeployed to the Provincial Legislature on Tuesday 04 October 2016.

At the Full Council, Councillor Edward Dladla was unanimously elected to be the District’s Speaker, while Councillor Dan Ndlela will take over the reins and become the Chief Whip.

The nomination process was presided over by the IEC members. Cllr Dladla thanked the African National Congress for deploying and entrusting him with enormous responsibilities. He further stated that he will ensure that as the ruling party, all political parties work together towards bettering the lives of our citizens.

Opposition parties, Democratic Alliance, Inkatha Freedom Party also congratulated the Speaker on his new role to lead the Municipality.

Cllr Dladla congratulated Honourable Member of Parliament Yusuf Bhamjee on his appointment, and stated that he has no doubt that Bhamjee will continue to serve the people of the Province.
